Building our future together
NU
NU is a collective of young professionals from the creative and cultural industries.. Initially, we were simply looking to build a community in Kër Yawa and with other partners.
Since the fire at the little market in Ste-Rita, however, we've become a real force to be reckoned with.
Our primary aim is to provide emergency support to those affected. That said, our approach is above all a sustainable one: we want to think about the markets and shopkeepers of tomorrow.
Le Marché de Ste-Rita
Last February, the small Ste-Rita market caught fire just as we were investigating the possibility of carrying out impact actions there.
22 victims in all. When a market burns down, entire communities are devastated!
The NU community has therefore decided to join forces with the women - our mothers, our sisters - of the market to raise their voices in search of solutions.
NU Futures
NU Futures is the program born of our consultations. It is structured around 3 pillars: reflection, impact and celebration.
Through this call for projects, we invite the whole community to join us in thinking about the African shopkeeper of the future. A letter, a painting, plans for a stall of the future: all thoughts are welcome.
You can also contribute to the fund, which will be donated directly to the disaster victims.
Finally, we'll be meeting in Kër Yawa and the market in May for a 7-day festival of celebrations and exhibitions.
